What is the treatment of prescription
abuse?
The
treatment of prescription abuse can
vary some depending on the type of prescription abused. Opioids
like OxyContin, Vicodin or Demerol have different effects
on the body and personality than stimulants like Ritalin,
Dexedrine and Meridia. Other widely abused prescription drugs
are central nervous system depressants like Valium, Xanax,
Librium also have their own particular characteristics.
Are prescription rehab centers appropriate
for uncooperative clients?
Yes, some of our clients do come to us after we have conducted
interventions on behalf of family members and begin treatment
after a prescription detox residential stay. Not all prescription
rehab centers offer intervention services but Prescription
Drug Treatment has a whole staff dedicated to making all of
the necessary arrangements and conducting a safe and successful
intervention.
What about interventions for employees?
Prescription
Drug Treatment also has programs for employees and prescription
addiction. Treatment for prescription addiction can help anyone
from all walks of life from your teenage son to a valued vice-president
of a corporation. The costs incurred by a drug user to a company
can be incalculable in terms of missed work and underperformance
but many companies take the enlightened approach to help the
employee deal with this very personal issue rather than outright
termination. We’ve done it for many companies and pieced
the lives of their employees back together.
How did a simple prescription from a medical
doctor become such a problem for me?
Many
of the clients of Prescription Drug Treatment struggle with
this very issue during treatment for prescription
addiction. Our counselors take special care during drug
education classes to emphasize the nature of addiction and
how some people are more likely to develop the disease than
others.
Unfortunately we do not see enough widespread education about
the addictive dangers of certain drugs from the drug companies
who profit.
